A stunning berry with a citrus aroma! This spice, originally from Bhutan, South Asia, is part of the Rutaceae family and grows in the eastern Himalayas. The Bhutanese berry grows wild in the forests of Asia, at an altitude of more than 1 200 m, and is picked from a small bush of the genus Zanthoxylum armatum. This berry produces fresh and sour flavour notes and has a deliciously intense lemongrass aroma. The aromatic character of this spice is ideal for sweet and savoury dishes and is particularly suitable for citrus salads and seafood. Suitable for use either ground or crushed To get the best flavour from this spice, we recommend using the berries at the end of cooking or before serving.
